Makos place second in Summer Race League Championships

The Manchester Makos Swim Team placed second in the 2024 Race League Championships at Sewanee Saturday, July 13.

The Makos compiled 18 individual event victories as well as 5 relay event wins at the meet.

Zane Stone picked up three wins in the boys 8 and under division, placing first in the 25-meter freestyle with a time of 22.49 seconds, first in the 25-meter breaststroke at 32.19 seconds and first in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 2:46.43

In the girls aged 9-10 division, Kylee Terry also picked up three wins, placing first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 37.65 seconds, first in the 25-meter breaststroke at 23.19 seconds and first in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:37.54.

The Makos had three individuals win events in the ages 11-12 division. Eli Shelton picked up three wins, placing first in the boys 50-meter freestyle with a time of 33.34 seconds, first in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:26.86 and first in the 50-meter backstroke at 38.53 seconds. Austin Gilday placed first in the boys 50-meter breaststroke at 45.03 seconds and Hallie Hunt placed first in the girls 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 50.07 seconds.

In the ages 15-19 division, the Makos had a total of seven wins. Auburn commit Isaac Lee had three of those wins in the men’s group, placing first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.58 seconds, first in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:00.99 and first in the 50-meter butterfly at 27.60 seconds. Addison Yates and Jaci Howlett each picked up two wins in the women’s group, with Yates placing first in the 50-meter freestyle at 29.10 seconds and first in the 50-meter breaststroke at 37.23 seconds while Howlett placed first in the 100-meter individual medley with a time of 1:13.34 and first in the 50-meter butterfly at 32.67 seconds.

In the team relays, the Makos placed first in the 9-10 girls 100-meter freestyle relay, first in the 11-12 mixed 100-meter medley relay, first in the 11-12 girls 100-meter freestyle relay, first in the 15-19 mixed 100-meter medley relay and first in the 15-19 women’s 100-meter freestyle relay.

Several swimmers from the Makos were also given a high point award, an award for individual achievement in their particular age group. Eli Shelton, Rosalea Buchanan, Isaac Lee, Addison Yates, Kylee Terry and Zane Stone all received high point awards.
