Manchester Police Department has announced the recent arrest of two men with alleged connections to the Nov.  22, 2023  robbery of  Capstar Bank, located at 1814 Hillsboro Boulevard.

According to a statement by Police Chief Bill Sipe, an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies had developed evidence that led to search warrants on two suspects’ residences on June 13 in Kentucky.

Through those searches, evidence was located tying these suspects, Marquez Wynn (25)and Stephen Hampton (25), to the robbery.

It is expected that Manchester Police Department will pursue charges for crimes committed, federally and locally.

The two suspects were arrested for a bank robbery that occurred In August of 2023 at Evansville’s Indiana Members Credit Union in Kentucky.

In May of this year, a third bank robbery occurred in Kentucky, that was similar to previous two bank robberies.

According to Manchester police, the suspect entered Capstar Bank and instructed the employees to fill bags with money. After the suspect obtained the money, a witness observed a male get in to a vehicle and exit the area.

Manchester Police Department began the investigation by collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses and victims.

Because of the local support, Manchester Police Department was able to locate an identical vehicle entering the city just prior to the robbery. This led Manchester Police Investigators to a business in Murfreesboro. After reviewing and collecting CCTV evidence, a male suspect they identified as Hampton.

The local Federal Bureau of Investigation’s office sent agents to support the investigation. Through that support, Manchester Investigators identified a second suspect, Wynn.

Intelligence gathered by multiple agencies for the next several months led to the arrests.

The department offers special thanks to Evansville Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Lexington Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Metro-Nashville Police Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

“Many hours and days of work were spent on these cases by all agencies involved,” Sipe said in the statement. “These cases are a success because of the determination and grit of the law enforcement officers who worked tirelessly to bring these suspects to face justice for their crimes, in a safe and professional manner.”

Once again, we would like to thank our local businesses and citizens for their cooperation and support that aided in the successful apprehensions of these suspects,” Sipe said.
