On Friday night, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders lost on the road to Blackman, 6-3 and the Westwood Rockets won 15-3 over the Cannon County Lions.

CCMS Red Raiders: 3, Blackman Flames: 6

The Flames would set the pace early on, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Coffee County would get on the scoreboard in the top of the second, with Tanner Daugherty scoring on a passed ball, but the Flames would score twice more in the bottom of the inning to lead 5-1.

No team would score in the next two innings, then the Red Raiders scored twice in the top of the fifth, with Hyatt Moss scoring on an Ethan Arnold sacrifice bunt and Augie Lynch scoring on a double by Jaxon Pruitt to make the score 5-3.

Blackman would score another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and hold on for the win.

Jaxon Pruitt had two hits and one RBI, Ethan Arnold had one RBI, Augie Lynch had two hits and Warren Simmons had one hit for the Red Raiders.

Lynch and Arnold would both pitch three innings, with Lynch allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out one batter on 58 pitches while Arnold allowed one run on two hits, struck out two batters and walked one on 41 pitches.

The Red Raiders will play a road game at Harris for their next contest on Thursday, Apr. 18.

Westwood Rockets: 15, Cannon County Lions: 3

The Rockets would strike first, as C.J. Chavis scored on a Tucker Linzey single and Davion Dycus scored on a ground out by Mason Hastings to give Westwood a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

The score wouldn’t change until the bottom of the third inning, as the Lions score three times to take a 3-2 lead, however, the Rockets exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth inning, including a single by Davion Dycus that drove in two runs to give Westwood the lead back.

Westwood would score twice in the top of the fifth inning, and five more times in the top of the sixth, giving them a 15-3 win.

Davion Dycus had four hits and four RBIs, Tucker Linzey had four hits and two RBIs, C.J. Chavis had three hits and two RBIs, Brady Christian had two hits and one RBI, Mason Hastings had one hit and one RBI, Cole Williams had one RBI and Brock Christian had one hit for the Rockets.

Hastings would be credited with the win on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out two batters and walking one on 71 pitches. Chavis would get credit for 0.2 innings, walking one batter on six pitches.
