On Thursday, the Coffee Middle Lady Raiders and Red Raiders both picked up big wins over Harris, the Westwood Lady Rockets beat Fayetteville 11-0 and the Westwood Rockets lost to Cascade 12-7.

CCMS Lady Raiders: 18, Harris Eaglettes: 2

The Lady Raiders dominated the game right from the start, outscoring the Eaglettes 5-2 in the first inning of play.

Coffee County would then blow the game apart in the second inning, scoring 11 runs to compile a 16-2 lead through just two innings of play.

The Lady Raiders would score two more runs in the top of the third inning, and go on to win the game 18-2 in a four-inning mercy rule.

Allie Raines had three hits and five RBIs, Genna Sadler had two hits and three RBIs, Kenzie Shelton and Payton Thomas each had two hits and two RBIs, Bailey Haile had two hits and one RBI, Briley Apicella had one hit and two RBIs, Briley Jernigan had one hit and one RBI and Maggie Bailey had one RBI for the Lady Raiders.

Jernigan earned another win in the circle, pitching three innings, allowing three runs on three hits, committing three errors and striking out six batters on 41 pitches.

The Lady Raiders have won seven games in a row and are 10-2 on the season.

CCMS Red Raiders: 15, Harris Eagles: 1

Like their softball compatriots, the Red Raiders had a dominant night on the diamond in Shelbyville.

Coffee County would outscore Harris 5-1 through the first two innings of play, then explode for nine runs in the third inning to lead 14-1 through three innings of play.

The Red Raiders would score once more in the fourth inning and win the game in a 15-1 mercy rule.

Augie Lynch had four hits and two RBIs, Jaxon Pruitt had two hits and one RBI, Warren Simmons and Mason Floyd each had one hit and one RBI, Rylan Abellana had one hit and Ethan Arnold along with Tanner Daugherty each had one RBI for the Red Raiders.

Lynch would earn the win on the mound after pitching four innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight batters on 48 pitches.

The Red Raiders are now 7-8 on the season.

Both Coffee Middle teams will celebrate Eighth Grade Night on Friday, Apr. 19 with the Lady Raiders softball game starting at 5:00 pm.

WMS Lady Rockets: 11, Fayetteville Tigers: 0

After losing their last three games, the Lady Rockets got back in the win column with a win over Fayetteville.

The Lady Rockets would make quick work of the Tigers, scoring three runs in the first inning, then double their lead in the second to lead 6-0 through two innings of play.

Both teams would be scoreless in the third inning, then Westwood scored five times in the fourth inning and go on to win 11-0.

Maddi Scott had three hits and scored two runs, Kylie Evans had two hits and scored two runs, Addi Teal had two hits and scored one run, Shaylee Meadows had one hit and scored two runs, Channing Gannon, Adalyn Wild and Mia Ahlijah each had one hit and scored one run and Kinsleigh Parson scored one run for the Lady Rockets.

The Lady Rockets are now 5-5-1 on the season.

WMS Rockets:7, Cascade Champions: 12

The Champions raced out to a commanding lead, scoring one run in each of the first two innings to lead 2-0 before erupting for eight runs in the third inning to put Westwood in an early, 10-0 hole.

Westwood scored twice in the bottom of the third inning, then scored three runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead in half, 10-5.

However, the Champions kept the Rockets grounded the rest of the way to win 12-7.

Tucker Linzey had four hits and three RBIs, Mason Hastings and Brock Christian each had one hit and one RBI, C.J. Chavis, Davion Dycus and Jaythan Finchum each had one hit and Brady Christian had one RBI for the Rockets.

Mason Hastings would be credited with the loss on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing 10 runs on eight hits, committing six errors and striking out two batters on 69 pitches. Brock Christian would pitch four innings in relief, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out one batter and walking three on 65 pitches.

The Rockets are 9-8 on the season and will take on Cannon County on Friday, Apr. 19.
