Red Raiders win on the road at Upperman

On Thursday, the CCCHS Red Raiders beat the Upperman Bees 5-1 in their final road contest of the regular season.

The Red Raiders would take the lead early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning with Cole Pippenger scoring on a sacrifice fly by Blake Hillis and Nate Rutledge scoring on a wild pitch to give Coffee County a 2-0 lead.

The game would remain a defensive standoff until the top of the sixth inning, when the Red Raiders doubled their lead to 4-0 as a line drive single by Hillis scored two runs to make the score 4-0.

Coffee County would score one more run in the top of the seventh inning to go up 5-0.

Upperman would get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh, however, the Red Raiders would take home the 5-1 win.

Blake Hillis would have one hit and three RBIs with Cole Pippenger, Nate Rutledge, Trevor Jesse, Trey Turner and Brendon Sheppard each registering a hit for Coffee County.

Isaiah Deadman would earn the win on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing only one hit, striking out five batters and walking four on 80 pitches. Bird Fellers would pitch 2.1 innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits, striking out two batters and walking one on 46 pitches.

The Red Raiders are now 13-15-1 on the season and will play host to Franklin County for Senior Night on Friday, Apr. 26 with a game time of 6:00 pm.
