Lady Raiders fall to DeKalb County

On Saturday morning, the Coffee County Lady Raiders dropped their final game of the Warrior Classic to the DeKalb County Tigerettes, 8-6.
DeKalb County would set the tone early, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Raiders would score in the bottom of the first inning with Ella Arnold scoring on a Savannah Cooper ground out to make it a 2-1 ball game, but the Tigerettes would score another two runs in the top of the second to lead 4-1.
DeKalb County would score again in the top of the third to lead 5-1, then the Lady Raiders scored with Maggie Montgomery after Madison Pruitt was walked with the bases loaded to make the score 5-2 after three innings of play.
However, the Tigerettes would score three runs in the top of the fourth inning to build a commanding, 8-2 lead.
Coffee County would try to chip away, scoring two runs in the sixth inning to make the score 8-4, and another two runs in the seventh inning to pull within two, but the Tigerettes held on for the win, 8-6.
Madison Pruitt finished the game with two RBIs on one hit, Kara Wheeler had one RBI on one hit, Savannah Cooper and Haleigh Skipper each had one RBI, Ella Arnold had three hits in all three of her at-bats and Channah Gannon went 2/4 at the plate.
Katelyn Anderson would be credited with the loss in the circle, pitching four innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out one batter on 55 pitches.
The Lady Raiders are 6-2 on the season and they will take part in the Gulf Shores Tournament next week, playing Hewitt-Trussville at 8:00 AM and Wicksburg at 10:00 AM on Monday, Mar. 25.
