Barlow, Jennings fall in State Semifinals

On Friday at Williamson County Ag Expo Center, Jacob Barlow and Ellysia Jennings made it to the semifinals of their respective weight classes, but all five of Coffee County’s wrestlers will continue the State Tournament in the consolation bracket.
Barlow would win his first round match of the 150 pound division over Green Hill’s Luke Athoe by a decision, then beat Kirkwood’s Robert Frost by a fall in the quarterfinals, but in the semifinals, Barlow would lose by a decision to Brayden Leach of Summit.
Barlow will continue the tournament in the consolation semifinals.
In the 285 pound division, Blayne Myers would fall in the first round by a decision to Peters Savarino of Summit, but would win his first round consolation match by a decision over Haiden Cox of Science Hill.
Myers will continue in the second round of the consolation bracket.
On the girls side, Ellysia Jennings would beat Autumn Lynch of Clarksville Academy by a fall in the first round of the 185 pound division, then defeat Madalynn Sepulveda of Rockvale by a fall in the quarterfinals, but lose in the semifinals by a decision to Riverdale’s Carter Grissom.
Jennings will continue her run in the State Tournament in the semifinal round of the consolation bracket.
In the 114 pound division, Jasmine Norris fell to Reilly Mcgaha of Knoxville Halls by a decision, but would win by a fall over Zakiya Ligon of Montgomery Central in the first round of the consolation bracket.
Norris will continue the tournament in the second round of consolations.
In the first round of the 165 pound weight class, Jade Lenhart would lose to Jonna Paterson of Blackman by a fall, but would win her first round consolation match by a fall over Hannah Lewellng of Gibbs.
Lenhart will also continue on in the second round of the consolation bracket.
All five of Coffee County’s representing wrestlers in the State Championship will continue their fight in the consolation bracket tomorrow, Feb. 24 at Williamson County Ag Expo Center with matches starting at 9:00 am.
