Raiderettes take home bid to Nationals
J
The biggest moment in a young Raiderette’s time with the CCCHS dance team is their first Universal Dance Association (UDA) Camp. For one week, dancers gather to compete, learn and perform.
This year, the Coffee County Dance Team left their camp home of the past few years, University of Alabama at Huntsville, and instead went northwest to Tennessee Technological University.
At this new camp, Raiderettes started the week off by competing in Home Routine (HR). When competing in HR, you get the chance for a bid to Nationals.
In HR, coach and choreographer Ashlyn Lee broke out choreography like nothing Coffee County has seen before. This intense jazz-contemporary piece landed the Raiderettes 4th place and a national bid.
A second way to qualify for Nationals is by winning the Superior Team Award- which Coffee County dance also took home.
Other awards and honors the Dance team brought back to Coffee County include Leadership Award, Team Full Out Award, the Spirit Stick and Super Spirit Stick, five All-Americans and two Pin it Forwards.
Now, catch the Raiderettes under the lights of Carden-Jarrell this fall. Raider Football season opens Aug. 18.
