The Manchester Rotary club officially welcomed its new president as well as board and committee leaders during its regular meeting Tuesday, July 25 at The Mercantile in Manchester.
Roxanne Patton, Coffee County executive assistant and former Manchester city alderman, will serve as the nonprofit organization’s president for the next year.
Patton said she first became involved with Rotary in 2008 during her first campaign for city alderman.
“I like the fellowship and I like the things that we do, our service projects and the meaning of Rotary, which is service above self,” she said.
Outgoing president Sherry Douglas said serving as Manchester Rotary president for the last year was a rewarding experience.
“I have met some great people and made some great connections,” Douglas said. “I think it has given me a bigger heart for our community, more commitment, more consideration and more desire for people to know what Rotary is.”
Douglas said Rotary club is a great way to connect those that want to be a positive influence in their community with others who feel the same way.
“I think it is important to find those individuals who have a heart for community, who are the doers if you will, that have a passion to help,” she said. “I believe Rotary provides an opportunity for you to put those skills into a team and be able to make a greater impact.”
