Prominent Businessman, volunteer Mike Niederhauser passes

Prominent businessman and community leader, George Michael “Mike” Niederhauser, 68, of Estill Springs passed away on Dec. 20, 2023 after complications from cancer.

“He was a strong supporter of the Chamber and a champion of economic development for our community, region, and state,” The Manchester Chamber said in a statement. “Mike never hesitated to ask difficult questions to make sure the right decision was reached, and always volunteered to help ensure the success of a project.”

“Mike leaves an enormous legacy behind. His knowledge, input and leadership will be greatly missed,” it said.

Niederhauser served on many community boards and in volunteered throughout the community. Organizations include Arnold Community Council Committee Chair for Legislative Affairs, Air Force Materiel Command Civic Leader Program, Tennessee Republican Party activist, Founding Member and Board of Director with First Vision Bank, President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, President of the Tullahoma Chamber of Commerce, President of the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce, Board of Director for Unity Hospital, Mach Tenn. Running Club and was the 40 year owner of Mike Niederhauser China and Gift Shop in Tullahoma

He volunteered with Storehouse Food Pantry Manchester, Board of Director for Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Group, member of Greater Manchester Economic Development Board, Tullahoma Technology Development Corporation, Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee, Tennessee Jaycees, Bonnaroo advocate and the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2024 at the Manchester First Methodist Church, 105 N. Church Street. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Memorial donations will be graciously accepted in his name to the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, the Mach Tenn. Running Club, and The Storehouse Food Pantry in Manchester.
