Event scheduled for Friday Jan. 19
Country musician Sam Grow will serve as the headlining act during the Noah Community Center Fundraiser scheduled for Friday, Jan. 19 at the community center located at 165 Noah Road, Manchester.
Doors for the event are scheduled to open at 5 p.m. with music beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets for the fundraiser can be purchased online at noahcomnmunityclub.eventbrite.com for $25 for general admission or $50 for a reserved seat and meal. There will be no tickets available at the door.
Community center Trustee Regina Hickerson said they are hoping to raise enough money to build a combined basketball and pickleball court at the community center.
“It really is a staple in our community and if these local community centers are not funded by us then they could go away,” she said. “It is depending on us taking care of it so we get to keep it.”
Hickerson said the Noah Community Center has a long history in the small rural Coffee County community.
“It is a staple in our community and the community events that we have throughout the year there really helps bring the community together,” Hickerson said. “We just try to bring the Beechgrove and Noah communities together. There are a lot of new members of the community that have moved in and just trying to get everybody to know everybody and just get familiar with your neighbors.”
Hickerson said Country musician Sam Grow, a native of the area, volunteered to perform during the fundraiser to help make it as successful as possible.
“We are trying to raise enough money to do a basketball/pickleball court at the community center and when he heard about that he had one date available this quarter and he said he would like to do a fundraiser to help raise money to support the community center,” she said. “It was his idea to do that, he is also going to bring an opening act with him so there will be an opening act and then Sam will play music.”
The event will also include a silent auction and Hickerson said there might even be a guitar or two from Grow up for bid.
