Sharing the love for Valentine’s Day

College Street Elementary School students recently made Valentine’s Day greetings to be delivered along with a rose to residents of local assisted living and nursing homes.

Katie Bess of Adoration Hospice suggested to the school the idea.

“We’ll have four facilities and possibly more that we’ll take residents cards and a rose,” Bess said. “I lot of them don’t have anyone that visits on Valentine’s Day.”

First grade teacher Katy Lopez added, “Christmas and the holidays are a big time when a lot of people do things for them, but a smaller things like Valentine’s Day, not as many people think about.”

“So we wanted to make sure they knew that people are thinking about them,” Lopez said.

College St. first grader Sophia Lannom added, “Happy Valentine’s Day! You’re the best!”

“I wrote Happy Valentine’s Day on mine and drew a picture of me on a trampoline on the back,” Lannom said.
