Matthews, Fletcher, Chambers win primaries

Securing the Republican Primary nominations in the three contested races on March 5 were School Board Seat 1, Holly Matthews, Coffee County Commission District 2, Roger Chambers, and taking the nomination for Property Assessor is Elissa Keele Fletcher.
According to preliminary results Matthews received 656 votes, beating incumbent Gary Nester with 533 and Sherie Petty with 436.
Chambers received 221 votes, beating Benton Brown with 103 and Lee Sullivan with 140. Sullivan who also ran unopposed for Manchester School Board will join fellow incumbent Susan Parsley in the General Election to fill the two open seats there.
Earning the nomination for Property Assessor, Keele grabbed 3,196 votes to Jenna Amacher’s 1,300 and William Huel Goldson’s 1,240.
In uncontested local races, nominees for Coffee County School Board Seat Two were Gary Cordell, with 1,007 votes and Scott Hansert with 984 votes. For Coffee County School Board Seat 3, Robert Gilley grabbed 1,662 votes and Beth Yentsch with 1,409. There are two open slots for those seats.
Randal Braker receives the nomination for Constable Seat 3 with 1,936 votesand Road Commission Seat 2 nomination goes to Arlis Markum with 549 votes.
In Coffee County Donald Trump won nomination as the Republican candidate for president with 4,820 votes, topping Nikki Haley’s 1,123 votes.
All together, of the 36,652 registered Coffee County voters, 6,412 voted republican and 491 voted democratic for a total of 6,903. Six ballots were cast blank.
The nominees from this race will go one to general elections races in the fall.
