After a three game winning streak, the Red Raiders suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Riverdale Warriors on Friday night, losing 10-4.

The Warriors took command in the early going, scoring one run in the first inning and two in the second before pouring on five runs in the bottom of the third inning to lead 8-0 through the game’s first three innings.

In the top of the fourth inning, Colter Neel would steal third base after hitting a double, but he was left stranded and the Red Raiders remained scoreless.

Riverdale scored again in the bottom of the fourth to lead 9-0 heading into the fifth, where the Red Raiders would manage to load the bases, but still couldn’t convert for a score.

The Red Raiders would chip away at the Riverdale lead in the top of the sixth, as Austin Gipson doubled on a ground ball to right field that sent Trey Turner home for a score, Brady Daugherty scored on a passed ball, and Gipson and Nate Rutledge scored on a Jayden Fellers double to make the score 9-4.

However, the Warriors would score a run in the bottom of the sixth and hold on to win, 10-4.

The Red Raider bullpen would finish with a combined 10 runs allowed on six hits with seven strikeouts and six walks as four different pitchers made an appearance for Coffee County, with Isaiah Deadman being credited with the loss after pitching two innings, allowing six runs on four hits and walking one batter.

Coffee County now finds themselves 3-3 on the season and they will return home to face Blackman on Monday, Mar. 18 at 6:00 pm.
