Lady Raiders win thriller over Stewarts Creek

On Wednesday, the CCMS Lady Raiders beat the Stewarts Creek Lady Falcons 10-9 in a high scoring game at home.

Stewarts Creek would have the early advantage, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, then the Lady Raiders would score in the bottom of the inning with Kenzie Shelton on a single by Allie Raines to make the score 2-1.

Each team would score once in the second inning to make the score 3-2, then the Lady Raiders erupted for six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an 8-3 lead.

The Lady Falcons would not go away quietly, scoring six runs of their own in the top of the fifth inning to retake the lead 9-8.

Briley Jernigan would hit a line drive double to send home Allie Raines for the tying score in the bottom of the sixth inning, then in the bottom of the seventh, Jernigan would hit a line drive that caused the Lady Falcon defense to commit an error, allowing Jernigan to reach first and Kenzie Shelton to score the game winning run, as the Lady Raiders walked it off, 10-9.

Paige Chilton had three hits and one RBI, Genna Sadler had three hits, Kenzie Shelton, Allie Raines, Briley Jernigan and Payton Thomas each had two hits and one RBI and Briley Apicella had one hit and one RBI for the Lady Raiders.

Jernigan would get the start in the circle, pitching five innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits and striking out five batters on 97 pitches and Apicella would pitch two innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two batters on 21 pitches.

With the win, the Lady Raiders keep their winning streak alive at 10 games, and they are now 13-2 on the season.
