Rumble On The Hill returning to Hillsboro Aug. 2-3

The Hillsboro Homecoming Association’s annual “Rumble On The Hill” tractor and truck pull will return Aug. 2-3 at 7926 Hillsboro Highway.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit Hillsboro Homecoming Association and allows the organization to give back to local charities and maintain its building so it can continue to be rented out throughout the year by area residents.

Gates officially open at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with on track action scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12 and free for children under six years of age. Small coolers are permitted with no glass containers.

Hillsboro Homecoming Association Board Member Aaron Brown said the annual tractor pull is the organization’s biggest event of the year.

“The Hillsboro Homecoming Association is a group of community volunteers and really our only driving factor of the organization is to make Hillsboro a better community,” he said.

Brown said the funds raised by the event over the years have allowed for the association to purchase property and develop parks.

“Proceeds from that obviously go to upkeep and any kind of expenses and stuff like that the association might have, but it also goes to community organizations that we support with some donations,” he said.

Mid-South Pullers will once again be the pull association in charge of the event, continuing a relationship that goes back decades.

“They have membership from probably five or six states,” Brown said. “Traditionally we will have equipment from four states at least.”

“It is a nationwide organization and beyond that they will bring in multiple classes of vehicle,” he added.

“We love to have them they are a great organization. We have worked with them for probably 30 years we have had them come out to our pull and put on a good show.

Originating as an antique tractor pull more than 30 years ago, Brown said the annual Rumble on the Hill wouldn’t be possible without the sponsorship and volunteers from the community.

“It is literally a tremendous community effort,” he said. “We are a board of 15 members, there is no way the 15 of us could put this on. It literally takes the entire community and beyond so the volunteer support, the sponsors, the donations that come in.”
