County Planning to proof zoning resolutions

The Coffee County Planning Commission during upcoming monthly meetings starting in September will begin to update the county’s zoning resolutions to correct typos and discrepancies that have accumulated over the last few years.
Planning Commission Chairman Steve Cunningham said he has spoken with Mayor Dennis Hunt and Board of Zoning Appeals Chairman Kevin Sipe concerning the proper way to move forward.
“We’ll go over it once chapter at a time, and if you find something that’s a typographical error or something written in,
Cunningham noted one typo, that an allowable use, a religious organization, was inadvertently left out of the zoning resolution documents despite being approved by the County Commission and recommended by the Planning Commission in 2011.
“We want to get one code book that’s easy for everybody,” Cunningham said.
“We are also going to get part of (the zoning resolutions) on the website,” Cunningham said. “Basically just the (parts relevant to) building, this is too much for the website.”
The revision will be compiled and submitted to the full commission for approval.
