The Tint Tek Marlins held on for the 15U Championship over the Mid-State Towing Braves and the J&L Renovations Rays took the 18U crown with a convincing win over the Homes by Hobbs Dodgers on Friday night at Fred Deadman Park.

15U Championship

In the Tournament Semifinals on Thursday, July 24, Mid-State Towing defeated the Regular Season Runners-up Topline Boutique Dodgers 7-2 and Tint Tek cruised to a 12-0 victory over the Acme Storage Brewers.

Tint Tek, who clinched the 15U Regular Season Title, won all three meetings against Mid-State Towing in league play, but that didn’t discourage Mid-State from jumping out to a narrow lead in the first inning of July 25’s 15U Title Game.

The Marlins struck first in the top of the first, scoring twice, but the Braves answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.

The lead wouldn’t last forever. Tint Tek tied the score at 3-3 with a run in the top of the second, then piled on another five runs in the top of the third to find themselves ahead 8-3.

Mid-State Towing outscored the Marlins 3-1 over the final three innings, but Tint Tek held on for a 9-6 victory.

18U Championship

The J&L Home Renovations Rays thoroughly dominated the 18U title bout right from the start, driving in a whopping 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning.

A decapod of runs weren’t enough to satisfy the Rays, who tacked on four more scores in the bottom of the third for a 14-0 lead.

The Dodgers wouldn’t leave completely empty-handed, reaching home once in the top of the fourth on a catcher error, but the double digit lead was too much to overcome, and the Rays cruised to an easy victory.

The DirTworX Red Sox and E. West Plumbing Braves were both semifinalists in the 18U Tournament, with the latter having placed second in the regular season standings.
