PREP ROUNDUP: CHS golf takes down Marion, South Pittsburg

The Coffee County golf team made the trip to Sewanee to face off against Marion County and South Pittsburg Tuesday afternoon.

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams came out with wins, with a 166 for the Red Raiders and a 108 for the Lady Raiders.

On the boys’ side, scores included a 37 for Noah Costello, a 41 for Jack Stowe, a 43 for Carter Bell and a 45 for Landon Collins. Girls’ scores included a 51 for Karaline Matthews and a 57 for Karsyn Riddle.

Following Wednesday’s Bear Trace Invitational at The Bear Trace at Tim’s Ford, Coffee County will return home to face Columbia and Marion County at WillowBrook Golf Club Monday afternoon. Tee times are set for 1 p.m.

CHS girls’ soccer takes down Webb

The Lady Raiders picked up their second straight victory Tuesday evening, this time coming in a 3-1 road decision over the Webb School.

After Webb got on the board first, Coffee County responded with the equalizer from Lilly Matherne on a shot from the corner. Bailey Barsenas added another for the Lady Raiders to give them a 2-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Matherne scored a second goal from the corner to bring the game to what would be its final score.

Coffee County returns home to host Middle Tennessee Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.
