Jefferson’s accepting nominations for Coach of the Year
S
Manchester Jefferson’s Restaurant recently opened nominations for its second annual run of the Manchester Jefferson’s Coach of the Year award, in honor of National Coaches Day.
The initiative aims to celebrate the dedication and community spirit of coaches who make a lasting impact both on their athletes’ lives and in the Manchester community.
“At Jefferson’s we know the lasting impact a great coach can have on players, teams, and entire communities,” said Sean McCooey, President of Double Dip Franchise Group. “Jefferson’s has always been a game-day staple—a place to bring together athletes, families, and fans, so many of whom can point to a coach who changed their life. This initiative is our way of honoring the mentors who have given so much to their players.”
The nomination period opens today, October 6, and closes on October 19 at 11:59pm CST
Athletes and schools interested in nominating a coach can submit their nominations via their location’s Nomination Form during the submission period. The winner will be announced on November 18. Find the full program details here.
The Manchester Jefferson’s Coach of the Year award is open to coaches of any sport, working with athletes of any age in the Manchester area. Coaches must live or work within 10 miles of Manchester, and can be nominated by anyone—athletes, parents and guardians of athletes, school officials, neighbors, etc.
Last year, Jefferson’s piloted its first Teacher of the Year award, committed to honoring extraordinary teachers and community members. Jefferson’s Coach of the Year initiative serves as a sister program—an additional avenue for Jefferson’s to give back and recognize a few of its community heroes.
Andrew Taylor, basketball and volleyball coach for Coffee County High, was named Coach of the Year in 2024. Taylor has been coaching for 30 years, and was selected as Coach of the Year for his emphasis on character development over winning and his long track record of filling the gaps for his athletes, ensuring that no student goes without food, support, or a ride to practice.
