Westwood splits doubleheader with Franklin North

The Westwood Middle School basketball teams were back in action Thursday evening, welcoming Franklin North for a girls’ and boys’ matchup.
The Lady Rockets were unable to duplicate their success from their season opener on Tuesday, falling 47-19. In the boys’ matchup, the Rockets came out on top 53-26 to remain undefeated.
Paisley Prater led the Westwood girls’ scoring effort with seven points. Bella Hastings and Adley Selvog followed with six points each.
Alijah Cuff led the Rockets offense in the ensuing boys’ game, finishing with 14 points. Brock Christian added 12 points. Up next was Kayden Campbell with nine points. Luke Christian was credited with six points, just ahead of Sterling Hackett with five points. Hayes Shemwell came away with four points. Kawl Saine had a single 3-pointer for three points.
Westwood (2-0 boys, 1-1 girls) will travel to Forrest next week to take part in the World Tournament. The tournament will be held from Monday through Thursday.
