Coffee County swimming picks up wins on senior night

The Coffee County and Westwood swim teams were back at the Manchester Recreation Complex Friday night, welcoming a wide variety of teams for a home meet.

The home teams wrapped up their senior night and eighth grade night meet with several wins across multiple events.

Starting the night with the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, the Coffee County team of Alina Horodetska, Jaci Howlett, Sydney Shelton and Amilia Engler took first place with a finals time of 2:46.11. The boys’ 200-yard medley relay team of Garrison Andy, Corban Alvarado, Jack Stowe and Alex Dolack also added a first-place finish, posting a finals time of 2:02.98. Dolack went on to take first place in the boys’ 200-yard freestyle, taking the top spot at a time of 2:10.68. Howlett also picked up a win in the girls’ 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.64 seconds.

The Coffee County girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Shelton, Howlett, Avory Gilday and Hayleigh Johnson took the event’s top spot, posting a time of 2:02.26 to secure the win. The Red Raider boys’ 200-yard freestyle team of Raiden Hiles, Ethan Hayes, Aidan Hayes and Avery Moore also picked up a first-place finish, wrapping it up with a time of 2:00.71. Howlett took first place in the girls’ 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.76.

The lone swimmer in the girls’ 500-yard freestyle, Westwood’s Kellen Watts automatically won with a time of 6:16.58.

Coffee County’s next home meet will be against Columbia Central on Jan. 9.
