The Dyer County Correctional Department sentenced one of its own Monday.

Tyrell Wallace, a guard at the county jail, was sentenced to ten years for “distributing narcotics” within the facility.

During their search, authorities found a large assortment of narcotics, cellphones, and a loaded handgun.

The former prison guard confessed to introducing the contraband during a post-arrest interview.

He pleaded guilty in September 2024 and was handed his sentence yesterday, which will be followed by five years of supervised release.
