MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in Whitehaven.

Officers responded to McCorkle Road near Raines Road just before midnight on New Year’s Eve. 

Police pronounced the man dead at the scene. MPD said one man was detained and later released.

According to police, the victim and the suspect knew each other.

FOX13 crews saw crime scene tape, several MPD cars, and crime scene investigators at the McCorkle address. 

This marks possibly the last shooting of 2025 where someone was injured.
