60-year-old man shoots, kills friend in Hyde Park after argument over missing wallet, records show

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 60-year-old man was arrested this week after he allegedly shot and killed a friend in September after they argued over a missing wallet, records show.

Tommy McShane, of Memphis, was taken into custody by the Memphis Safe Task Force on Tuesday, three months after a deadly shooting in Hyde Park. He was charged with second-degree murder, records show.

A witness told investigators he was with McShane and another man, later identified as Sean Lambert Sr., when they were arguing about McShane’s missing wallet. McShane said “he was going to do something to somebody about his billfold,” the witness said.

The witness told investigators he fell asleep only to wake up to four gunshots and McShane telling him, “Man I shot him!” and “You better call the ambulance now, or else he gone die.”

The witness told police that McShane jumped on a bike and rode off.

According to court documents, Lambert was found dead on a couch on the front porch of a home on Eldridge Avenue. The Memphis Police Department said the shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 4, 2025.
