MPD says suspicious package caused road closures in Midtown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Police Department (MPD) said a suspicious package caused road closures in Midtown on Sunday afternoon. 

Officers responded to a suspicious package call in the 1500 block of Union Avenue around 4:24 p.m.

MPD reported they found a large box in the parking lot and took precautionary measures by closing the streets and evacuating nearby businesses. 

The MPD Bomb Squad investigated the scene and determined it was safe. 

Officers are working to reopen traffic on Union Avenue.
