Small leak from tanker catches fire in Castalia Heights but ‘not hazardous,’ MFD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A small leak from a tanker that caught fire early Wednesday morning in the Castalia Heights neighborhood was “not hazardous material,” according to the Memphis Fire Department (MFD).

“The fire was quickly brought under control,” the fire department said.

MFD added that no one was injured — including firefighters — after MFD crews responded to a fire near train tracks on Deadrick Avenue. “This pressurized tank had a small leak which caught some of the contents on fire,” MFD said in a report.

The fire was reported just before 4 a.m.

No other details were released.
