Man hides in grandma’s bedroom, refuses to cooperate
M
A man tried hiding in his grandmother’s bedroom March 17, but ended up arrested anyway.
Madisonville Police Officer Wesley Johnson said he and two other officers went to a house on Ingram Street on a call of everybody in the house fighting and met three people who told them the instigator was in the house.
Johnson said they had to go in through the backdoor because the front door had been damaged during the fighting.
Johnson said they met Michael Ramsey, the alleged instigator, in the house and he promptly ran upstairs to hide in his grandmother’s bedroom.
Johnson said he talked Ramsey into coming out of the room and took him downstairs to talk. Despite coming downstairs, Ramsey reportedly refused to cooperate and eventually Johnson had him detained in the back of his patrol car.
Johnson then talked to two of the people who’d been in the house and he noticed one of them had a lump above her eye. He asked about it and she said her roommate Jayla Hatmaker had done it.
Johnson said he went back into the house and talked to Hatmaker who admitted she’d hit the woman first. Johnson then placed her under arrest.
He then talked to another person from the house who said Ramsey had thrown a bottle at her, something two witnesses attested to. Johnson asked her if she’d been scared of Ramsey and she said the look in his eyes had made her run out of the house.
Hatmaker, no age available, Ingram Street, Madisonville, was charged with domestic assault.
Ramsey, no age available, Ingram Street, Madisonville, was also charged with domestic assault.
