Update: Joshua Wayne Metcalf, who was wanted by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, was taken into custody Sunday

Metcalf has escaped from Jail on Thursday. 

He is accused of killing his brother. 

Earlier: 

A statewide alert has been issued for 48-year-old Joshua Wayne Metcalf, who is wanted by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities say Metcalf is wanted for Second-Degree Murder.

Metcalf escaped from the Hancock County Jail Thursday morning. His escape placed Hancock County Schools on lockdown on Thursday.

As a result of Metcalf still being at large, Hancock County Schools were closed and were on a remote learning day on Friday.

Up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

If you see Metcalf or have information, do NOT approach him. There are surrounding law enforcement agencies who are assisting Hancock County deputies in the search.
