Driver slams car into Whitehaven apartment building, neighbors tell FOX13

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A driver slammed a car into an apartment building in Whitehaven early Thursday, neighbors told FOX13.

It happened at the Winchester Grove Apartments.

FOX13 arrived to scene around 6 a.m. Thursday and discovered the car had been towed. Neighbors said a car slammed into the building and left a huge hole in the side of a wall.

FOX13 saw crime scene tape around the hole — right into the wall of someone’s unit.

According to the Memphis Police Department, the driver of the car was taken to a hospital in non-critical condition and later detained.

The crash was reported just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. No other details were released.

A neighbor told FOX13 that he was shocked to see what happened.

“I come outside and that happens,” the neighbor said. “Five doors down. It could have been us … That’s devastating. Just gotta stay prayed up then. Try our best to keep our kids and family safe.”
