The Westwood softball team’s offense got rolling late on the way to a victory Monday.

Hosting Cannon County, the Lady Rockets overcame an early 4-1 deficit with six runs over the fourth through sixth innings on the way to a 7-5 win.

Westwood finished the game with six hits, including two each for Paisley Prater and McClayne Finch. McKenna Kehely and Callie Kapise each had two hits.

Finch also led the team in RBI with two of its six. Kehely, Kapise, Maleah Chavis and Izzy Sartain each had one RBI.

Skyleigh Cooper got it started in the circle, coming out in the top of the second inning with two strikeouts, five hits, four runs and two walks. Kehely took her place, striking out 12 and holding Cannon County to two hits, one run and three walks through the game’s remainder.

The win put Westwood at 8-9 on the season.
