Vinson makes it official, signs with Lady Bisons

On Thursday afternoon, CCHS senior Olivia Vinson signed her letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Lipscomb University.

Vinson had previously committed to the university verbally back in October of 2023.

“Lipscomb is close to home and faith-based, which is very important to me,” said Vinson. “I can see how family-oriented it is there and I love the coaches, team and everything else about it.”

Vinson plans on majoring in education with hopes of teaching high school history after college.

When she moves up to the college level, Vinson sees her style of play fitting in well with the Lady Bisons.

“The coaches at Lipscomb love having a bunch of shooters and people that can facilitate the ball,” she said. “I think that’s where I fall into as a player is to be unselfish, pass the ball and then shoot it when I need to.”

Olivia will be following in the footsteps of older sister Bella, who graduated from Coffee County in 2021 after scoring over 2000 career points and having her #23 jersey retired. Bella Vinson is currently in her senior year as a member of the Lipscomb Lady Bisons, and it didn’t take much to convince her younger sister to also attend the school.

“Every single thing that I’ve ever heard from her about Lipscomb has been positive,” said Olivia. “She loves it so much and she could never see herself playing anywhere else, so I knew that when I got the opportunity, that’s where I wanted to go as well.”

In her junior year last year, Vinson enjoyed a stellar season with the Coffee County Lady Raiders, winning the 4A District 9 Regular Season MVP award, eclipsing the 1,000 career points mark and helping her team make the State Final Four. For her senior year, Vinson hopes to repeat that success.

“I definitely want to get back to The Glass House and I want to go for another District MVP award,” she said. “That comes down to putting in hard work, but I feel like I’ve put in enough hard work and I just love being here with my team.”
