The Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved a contract Anthony Burrows for the position of city Finance Director.
Burrows works in the same capacity for the Washington State City of Lynden.
The contract will have the annual salary of $120,000 plus 10 days of leave, and to accrue leave at the annual rate of 20 days.
Burrows also negotiated a new position in the city’s finance department.
Mayor Marilyn Howard said at the special called meeting that previously the department had one more person that the city currently has.
“We did have that many in finance,” she said. “It sounds like we’re going back to what we had when (former Finance Director Bridget Anderson) was here and people started dropping and we didn’t fill that role.”
The board selected to enter in negotiations with Burrows at a special call meeting on March 7. He told the board during an interview via Zoom that he would give the city of Lynden a 30 day notice.
The current Finance Director Lisa Myers submitted her resignation for personal reasons. Her last day will be March 31. She was hired in November of 2022 at an annual salary similar to Burrows.
