Steve Trussler inducted into TSSAA Hall of Fame

On Monday, Manchester’s own Steve Trussler was inducted into the TSSAA Hall of Fame along with seven other coaches, officials and administrators at the organization’s annual luncheon at Middle Tennessee State University.

Steve Trussler’s career with the TSSAA lasted over 50 years, as he officiated around 4,000 different TSSAA sanctioned events, including basketball, baseball, football and softball.

Some notable events that Trussler officiated include various district, regional and sectional games as well as eight TSSAA State Baseball Championships, one State Football Championship game, and volunteer work in 15 State Golf Championships.

Trussler’s awards include the 2018 Athletic District 3 A.F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year Award for his work as Grundy County High School’s Athletic Director and the TSSAA Award of Merit in 2020, which recognized his 50 years of service as an official.

Other members of the TSSAA Hall of Fame Class of 2024 include Bernard Childress, an administer from Murfreesboro; Phil Clark, a coach from Bartlett; Glenn Falls, a coach from Nashville; Joe Gaddis, a coach from Oak Ridge; Jody Wright, a coach from Clinton; Jerry McCarter, an official from Powell; and the late Chris Snoddy, a contributor from Nashville.
