PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: CHS basketball splits with York Institute

The Coffee County basketball teams made the trip to Jamestown for a doubleheader at York Institute Friday night.

Starting with the girls’ game, the Lady Raiders suffered their first loss of the season, falling 35-25.

The Red Raiders followed this up with a victory in their game, coming out on top 64-58 to get back to .500 on the season.

In the boys’ game, MJ Rollman led Coffee County to the win with 21 points. Levi Rollman followed with 11 points. Audie Nicoll added nine points, finishing just ahead of Kaysen Lowery with eight points. Luke Campbell and Braden Sargent both came away with six points each. Gabe Hambly had a single 3-pointer for three points.

Natalie Barnes led the Lady Raider effort with nine points. Kaysen Morgan followed with six points. Hayleigh Harris added four points. Audri Patton and Jaydee Nogodula both had three points each.

Coffee County (3-3 boys, 7-1 girls) travels to Winchester for a road doubleheader against Franklin County Tuesday. The girls’ game will tip off at 6 p.m.

Westwood boys take down Forrest

The Westwood Middle School boys’ basketball team made the trek to Forrest Thursday night, coming home with a 44-22 victory.

Brock Christian led the way with 14 points. Luke Christian followed with 11 points. Hayes Shemwell drained nine points to finish just ahead of Alijah Cuff with eight points. Kayden Campbell had a single basket for two points.

Westwood (10-1) travels to Franklin North for a road doubleheader on Wednesday. The girls’ game is set to tip off at 6 p.m.
